Winterize Your Boat
Motor and Outdrive
Winterflush®is
a new patented method of winterizing your boat engine and outdrive in
one easy
step. No more pulling freeze plugs, no more guessing if you
have left
over water hiding somewhere inside your motor block or outdrive.
Relax
all winter knowing that your motor and outdrive will survive winter as
if it were sleeping peacefully awaiting Spring.
Winterflush®Isn't Pretty-
but it is
pretty awsome!
Convience-With your
Winterflush kit you
will receive all the tools necessary to easily and conviently flush
your motor and outdrive with just a few easy
steps. The only thing you will have to supply is a couple of gallons of
antifreeze and some
water. Effective 10-6-08 your Winterflush kit includes the
100 Cold Check Anti Freeze Tester shown below. This tester
is specifically designed for testing propylene glycol-based antifreeze
in freshwater systems found in RV's and boats. Accurate to
-50 degrees F. Ball float to show freeze ptrotection. Test
coolant hot or cold. Anti-Freeze Mixture from PEAK
Why is it important to mix antifreeze with water?
Antifreeze contains chemicals that protect your engine
against rust and corrosion, as well as freeze-up and boil over
protection. Water is required to activate the chemicals in the
inhibitor package. Furthermore, adding water to antifreeze actually
increases the freeze-up and boil over protection provided. For example,
a mix of 40% antifreeze and 60% water provides freeze-up protection
down to -10°F and boil over protection up to 259°F. In
comparison, a mix of 70% antifreeze and 30% water provides freeze-up
protection down to -62°F and boil over protection up to
270°F. However, we do not recommend adding more than 70%
antifreeze. This would limit the corrosion and freeze up protection and
heat transfer capabilities of the antifreeze.
Easy To Use Instructions Provided with each Kit.
Simply pour three gallons of propylene glycol-based
(PINK) anti-freeze
in the
five gallon bucket provided. This mixture will intermix with the water
that is in your engine block. You may have to modify coolant level to
increase freezing protection.
If possible open the petcocks on your engine block
and drain out water that is easiy to drain before starting
engine. Close petcocks before starting engine.
Install muffler over water intake on your lower unit.
Connect a 12V power supply to the kit pump.
Red to positive, black to negative.
Assemble the curtain frame and position the curtain
below the transom and outdrive.
Turn the kit pump on and begin circulating coolant
throughout your engine and outdrive.
Start engine and let idle until temperature gage is
up to operating temperature. DO NOT ENGAGE OUTDRIVE!
Let engine run for several minute to be sure coolant
has circulated throughout engine.
Turn off engine and kit pump.
Let coolant drain into curtain when flow stops tip
curtain frame to drain coolant into bucket.
Check coolant protection in bucket with anti-freeze
tester. This is the level of protection inside your engine
and outdrive.
Rinse kit components with fresh water and store in a
cool dry place.
Resuable- The
coolant mixture that you recover can be saved in the empty containers
and used over assuming
that you check the anti-freeze level of protection required for your
area.
Use the anti-freeze tester proveded to maintain
proper coolant mixture.
Storage- Drain Coolant back
into empty containers. Rinse off your kit components
and store coolant and kit in cool dry place.
